Hello everyone, particularly those of you coming from Strange Horizons. I’m Jaime Babb, poet, author of science fiction and fantasy, and academic.
The most major thing that I’ve published is my novel Reality’s End, now available from Otter & Osprey Press. It’s about a lot of things: politics, physics, philosophy, and post-apocalyptic Fairy-occupied Canada. You can read the whole thing on AO3 for free, and I’m in the process of serializing it as a podcast. (Please don’t let the fact that it’s available free stop you from giving me money though.)
I’m also an occasional contributor to Reactor Magazine; I mostly write about Star Trek.
Academically, I’m all over the place. My background is in theoretical physics, but I’m currently pursuing a PhD in science and technology studies. My dissertation is on the historiography of the multiverse: how science and science fiction have co-produced the idea since the 1930s. Perhaps I’ll discuss some of that in the months ahead.
